Brief Background

Hari Mahalingam obtained his graduate and post-graduate degrees in chemical engineering from Alagappa College of Technology, Anna University, Chennai. Then he secured the Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering from National University of Singapore. The topic of his Ph.D. thesis was "Studies on mixing in circulating flows" and dealt with the application of a mathematical model for mixing in circulating flows to equipment having a dominant re-circulating flow such as airlift vessels and mechanically agitated vessels. He has two years of post-doctoral research experience in France (particle imaging velocimetry & two-dimensional trajectography in the imaging of multiphase flows in a stirred vessel) and Singapore (chemical logistics: management of empty tank container flows on a global basis). Since 2005, he is with JUET Guna as associate professor and HOD. He has published papers in international journals like AIChE journal, Chemical Engineering journal etc. He is currently guiding four research scholars in areas like black liquor droplet combustion modeling, supercritical fluid processes and photocatalysis. He has organized two workshops on advances in separation processes and numerical methods at JUET Guna. He delivered an invited lecture on transport phenomena at ITM Universe, Gwalior. He has taught a wide range of subjects both at undergraduate & post-graduate level and actively partipated in revision of curricula for various courses offered in the department. He is a life member of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, Calcutta.
